One of our companies and more to follow I’m sure are beginning to roll-out crash detection on their mobile apps. One of our companies, Travelers, is starting their jump into the market next week (February 19, 2023). If their app, IntelliDrive detects a crash, it can pinpoint the customer’s location and connect them with help, if needed.
Details
• If the app detects a crash, a notification will be sent to the customer’s phone asking them to confirm whether or not a crash occurred.
✓ If the customer responds yes, they will connect them to emergency or tow services.
✓ If there is no response after 60 seconds, attempts will be made to contact the customer to check on them. The app also advises customers to call 911 if they need medical attention or emergency services. Crash detection is available here in Tennessee at roll-out.
I think we will see more of this from other companies. I have read other insurance companies are in development with this new ‘motion sensor’ technology that the mobile phones have these days. I’m sure, as in most new developments, there will be both positive and negtive reaction to it. I’m glad we can keep you up with the latest developments as we learn about them – here on the blog.
