Auto-Owners Insurance offers a Safe-At-Home Refund!

As I have mentioned in other blog publications in the last few days, our companies are ‘getting it!’   They are assisting our customer with financial assistance by way of premium credit refunds on their auto insurance.  There is a load of evidence that vehicles are being driven less during this Stay-At-Home recommendation during this CoVid19 crisis.  Auto claims are lower across the country as well in our area.  Our agency have filed VERY FEW claims for vehicles in the last 3 weeks.  So companies are passing some of their savings back to you, our customer.

This morning, we received detailed information about how Auto-Owners Insurance Company will handle these premium credit refunds.  Here are the details you need if your insurance with Benton White Insurance and is placed with Auto-Owners Insurance Company:   

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Auto-Owners Insurance will be refunding up to 15% of Private Passenger Auto premiums for the months of April and May 2020.  This refund is pending regulatory approval. In order to be eligible for a refund, a vehicle must have bodily injury coverage in order for the refund to apply.

Once regulatory approval is received (we are assuming this would occur during the month of May), we will apply up to a 15% premium refund. Below are more details:

This refund will automatically occur.  There is no action needed on the customers behalf.

Policyholders who are enrolled in in the Auto-Owners Customer Center, can log in and view their refund notice in the document section. If they are not enrolled in the Customer Center, they can enroll by clicking the Log In link at Auto-Owners.com.

The customers refund will be applied to any outstanding balance on their billing account. Any remainder will be returned via check or their automatic payment method.

This refund applies to private passenger auto policies.

New customers to our agency with their insurance written during the months of April and May will also be eligible for this refund. Policies need to be in force effective May 31, 2020.

Existing customers must have bodily injury coverage in force on March 31, 2020, in order for the refund to apply.

ATV’s, snow mobiles, golf carts, campers and similar items will not be eligible for the refund.
