In what could be described as the least surprising news to Metro Nashville motorists, the area encompassing Music City, Franklin and Murfreesboro has landed on a list of the worst U.S. cities for drivers. 

24/7 Wall St. created an index composed of several driving-related measures from the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Texas A&M’s Transportation Institute, and more, to identify the worst metropolitan statistical areas for drivers.

And the metro area for Nashville-Davidson County-Murfreesboro-Franklin comes in at No. 39. 

Among the contributing factors to this ranking: an average commute time of 28.1 minutes and an estimated 58 hours lost due to traffic congestion in 2017.

The index also listed I-24 as the most dangerous road in the statistical area.

With increased risk on our roads and higher claim settlements, insurance rates follow close behind.  Let’s all do our part to help curtail these bad numbers and be as safe on the roads as possible.  Today’s collision repair is at least twice if not three-times as costly as ten years ago.  We all want insurance premium rate relief.  These types of statistics are not helping us get it.
